Welcome, meet Suzanne
“Working with energy, psychic guidance, teaching taiji and qigong is my career. It might be an unconventional career but it is my career.” said to my father about 20years after I started professionally. He recognised the word “career”, his expression changed and finally I knew he understood.
So who am I?
Author, psychic, writer, taiji practitioner, teacher, health advocate for chronic pain management.
researcher using Taiji, Qigong, and meditation to manage pain, and with an interest in Australian social history. I'm also a wife/partner, Mum, and Grandmother.
During decades of involvement in health, medical administration concurrently with my personal practice of complementary bodywork modalities including teaching taiji and qigong I have often seen awareness, a melding, of mainstream and traditional philosophies. These days, emerging from the depths of a long illness, I now bring a voice from the wilderness to educate, advocate and be an active part of organisations working to shed light on the misunderstandings around chronic pain and extreme hypersensitivities. Writing my story of chronic pain, to not only overcome but live a life full of joy, acknowledging any limitations, redefining and embracing possibilities is one of my current projects. In the meantime talking with people, writing articles, participating in focus groups and discussions brings awareness to the plight of people living with chronic pain and its personal, family, community, and societal impact.
Ethics of a Psychic Reading, in addition to being a guide for people working in the field of the paranormal and energetic worlds, as well as for students and others interested in having readings or wanting to know more, it is also an autobiography of one aspect of my life – living with psychic abilities.
Growing up in a family of incredibly strong, focused, independent parents & grandmother who believed that you can do anything you want was both liberating and confronting. The latter – how do I live up to the ideals – the perfection to display to the world?
The energies that were around, even if I was not consciously aware of them, have influenced me greatly.
Through my mother, Patricia Evans, I never realised that glass ceilings exist(ed) for women, and have published her story What Glass Ceiling? to share the wonderful insights of embracing motherhood, career and life in general. Mamma is a quiet trailblazer who empowers many in their work and personal lives. She has always been there for me – recognising the strong likeness for my abilities with her mother, my Nanna.
My husband Mick and I have been together for 44 years and we enjoy living in a small town on the New South Wales coast in Australia. Our adult children have followed their dreams. And for our four young grandchildren life is a game…
Some of the comments over the years encourage me to do what I do, be who I am:
"I feel so relaxed and energised watching your tai chi …"
"your meditation, your calming voice, I closed my eyes and the intensity of my pain eased …" "your talk was inspiring and I felt strong …"
"I for one have losses and just reading what you've written Suzanne, makes me stop and realize that it can work for me too; even without physical pain." ("Rebranding" May2016 PnPAuthors)
Helping people to recognise and reconnect with their passion, their “I want to be…”, the essence of their dreams, seeing another person transform creating joy and happiness in their own life and allowing it to radiate out to others is my goal.
I can write lots of stories about what I know, however, more importantly I'd like to know what you might wish me to write about. Please use the comment box to request themes, both psychic or health (chronic pain). You can follow my wordpress blog suzannenewnham.wordpress.com/ which should give notification of articles, and other related information.
Go to "Books & Articles" and "Chronic Pain" pages and sub-pages for more detail on stories I have written, & health projects.
