Longer Biography
“Working with energy, psychic guidance, teaching taiji and qigong is my career. It might be an unconventional career but it is my career.” said to my father about 20 years after I started professionally. He recognised the word “career”, his expression changed, and finally I knew he understood.
My first book Ethics of a Psychic Reading, is a guide for people working in the field of the paranormal and energetic worlds, as well as for students and others interested in having readings or wanting to know more, The book is also an autobiography of one aspect of my life – living with psychic abilities.
During decades of involvement in health, medical administration, concurrently with my practice of complementary bodywork modalities including teaching Tai Chi (Taiji) and Chi Kung (Qigong), I have often seen awareness and a melding of mainstream and traditional philosophies. These days, even though my health is still very compromised, emerging gradually from the depths of a long illness, I now have energy most days to bring a voice from the wilderness to educate, advocate and be an active part of organisations working to shed light on the misunderstandings around chronic pain and extreme hypersensitivities.
Writing my story of chronic pain, to not only overcome its continual impacts, but to live a life full of joy is one of my current projects. I focus on acknowledging any limitations, but at the same time redefining and embracing possibilities. In the meantime talking with people, writing articles, and participating in focus groups and discussions brings awareness to the greater community to the plight of people living with chronic pain with its personal, family, community, and societal impacts.
Growing up in a family of incredibly strong, focused, independent parents & grandmother who believed that you can do anything you want was both liberating and confronting. The latter – how do I live up to the ideals – the perfection to display to the world?
I never realised that glass ceilings exist(ed) for women. My mother's motto: "Never underestimate what you can do in life" as well as both parents' advice "you can do whatever you want in your life", underpin my determination and motivation. I published my mother Patricia's memoir What Glass Ceiling? to share the wonderful insights of embracing motherhood, career and life in general. Mamma was a quiet trailblazer who empowers many in their work and personal lives. She has always been there for me – recognising the strong likeness for my abilities with her mother, my Nanna.
While researching What Glass Ceiling? my interest in Australian social history was further developed. My father bought land on the northern bank of the Moruya River near the bridge and redeveloped the hotel there in 1960. He wrote about it in his autobiography and I have further researched the history of the site discovering there has been a continuous licence for a series of hotels since 1848. This year, for the 175th anniversary I'm currently seeking stories and anecdotes to compile in a book. Contact me if you are interested in participating - whether a couple of sentences through to short stories, all are welcome. Don't worry if your spelling, grammar and punctuation isn't good - I can edit where needed.
My husband and I have been together for 46 years, and we enjoy living in a coastal town in Australia. Our adult children have followed their dreams. And for our four grandchildren life is a game…

Some of the comments over the years that continue to motivate me:
I feel so relaxed and energised watching your tai chi
Your meditation, your calming voice, I closed my eyes and the intensity of my pain eased …" "your talk was inspiring and I felt strong
Suzanne, your column allows others to know that they are not alone with their pain, and not only that, you give them ways to deal with it. Great column Suzanne. We are so thankful to have you part of PnPAuthors Magazine. [owners/editors]
Suzanne's column is memorable and bittersweet. Brain fog must be a terrible, terrifying affliction somewhat similar to Alzheimer's. Imagine not being able to recognize a book you wrote or remember anything about it! I'm glad she was brave and fought to recover as many of her skills as possible. Congratulations on reaching the third anniversary of your book [Ethics of a Psychic Reading]. ("Brain Fog" Aug2015 PnPAuthors)
I for one have losses and just reading what you've written Suzanne, makes me stop and realize that it can work for me too; even without physical pain. ("Rebranding" May2016 PnPAuthors)
Helping people to recognise and reconnect with their passion, their “I want to be…”, the essence of their dreams, seeing another person transform creating joy and happiness in their own life and allowing it to radiate out to others is my goal.
